CIPS has partnered with ITN Productions Industry News to produce 'Future-Proofing the Supply Chain’, a news-style digital programme raising awareness of the procurement and supply profession and the importance of building resilient and sustainable supply chains in an economic and environmentally-challenged world.

Recent global disruptions have inevitably had a significant impact on the efficiency of supply chains. Future-ready supply chains need to be transparent, ethical and sustainable to drive profitability growth in these challenging economic times. Anchored by presenter Sharon Thomas from ITN’s studio in London, ‘Future-Proofing the Supply Chain’ features informative interviews with industry experts, news items and sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations providing a platform to share best practice and encourage best practices as the standard and heart of supply chain management.

Malcolm Harrison, Group CEO, CIPS joins the programme to discuss how recent global disruptions have affected supply chains. Digitisation is also changing the role of procurement and how professionals need to develop more knowledge and skills to meet these new changes. In an interview with reporter Sharon Thomas, Malcolm Harrison says:

“To me, it’s absolutely critical because this is an issue for our planet (you know), this is about climate change, this is about protecting our environment for the future, this is about the responsible use of scarce resources.

“I believe that every CEO should make sure their organisation has a real focus on sustainability and many of the ESG challenges are in supply chains, so you need to have the right people with the right skills, focussed on addressing those challenges.”

A continuous improvement approach to business, and a culture committed to inclusion, the planet, and digital society, can also drive positive change in the wider world.
